Orlen’s Baltic East offshore wind farm has received an environmental decision from the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Gdańsk, setting out the conditions for the project’s development. The 1 GW facility is positioned to participate in Poland’s first offshore wind auction, scheduled for December.
The environmental decision covers turbines, foundations, offshore substations, and inter-array cables. A separate procedure is underway for the grid connection infrastructure. Baltic East already holds a siting decision, preliminary grid connection approval, and a permit for cable installation within internal and territorial waters. Design and engineering work has started in preparation for building permit applications.
The project, Orlen’s second offshore wind farm, will be constructed across a 110 km² site about 22.5 km off the Baltic Sea coast, adjacent to the Baltic Power wind farm currently under construction.
