Terra-Gen, jointly owned by Masdar and Igneo Infrastructure Partners, has commissioned the Monte Cristo I wind project in Hidalgo County in Texas. The 238.5 MW facility is expected to produce more than 850 gigawatt-hours of electricity each year, with its capacity contracted to two corporate buyers through long-term agreements.
Monte Cristo I is Terra-Gen’s second wind project in Texas. Combined with the Big Spring wind facility, the company’s generation capacity in the state now stands at 273 MW. A second phase of Monte Cristo has been permitted and development work continues.
