Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) has submitted an onshore planning application to The Highland Council for the Ayre Offshore Wind Farm. The project, located east of Orkney and north-east of Caithness, would have a capacity of 1 GW once operational.
The submission follows a comprehensive optioneering process that considered environmental constraints, alongside public consultations and engagement with local communities and stakeholders in Caithness. The Ayre Offshore Wind Farm secured a seabed lease in the ScotWind leasing round in 2022.
