RWE has finished installing all foundations for the 1.1 GW Thor offshore wind farm in the Danish North Sea. The final monopile, out of a total of 72, was installed in September, marking a key milestone for the project. Last week, RWE also completed the installation of the secondary steel structures, including boat landings, main access platforms, and internal cassettes.
The secondary steel installation was completed using Van Oord’s offshore installation vessel MPI Adventure. Offshore operations were coordinated from the Danish Port of Thyborøn. To safeguard the foundations until turbine towers are installed, reusable hard covers have been fitted. Turbine installation is planned to begin in spring 2026 from the Port of Esbjerg.
