Vattenfall and the Danish Energy Agency have signed the final agreements for the Hesselø and Holmsland offshore wind projects. Vattenfall was awarded the projects in Denmark's latest offshore wind tender in August 2026.
As part of the agreement, North Sea I Mid will be renamed Holmsland, reflecting its location off the coast of Holmsland. The new name was chosen to make the project more recognisable. Hesselø will have a capacity of at least 800 MW, and is located in the Kattegat. Holmsland is located in the North Sea near Hvide Sande and will have a capacity of at least 1,000 MW. Together, the two projects will add at least 1.8 GW of offshore wind capacity to Denmark's energy system. Both are expected to be operational by 2032. Construction decisions remain subject to final investment decisions and the necessary approvals.
