The HSI consortium, made up of HSM Offshore Energy, Smulders and Iv, has announced yard completion and sail-away of the Jasmund offshore substation. The topside, measuring 48 metres by 33 metres, standing 17.5 metres high and weighing about 4,500 tonnes, has departed the HSM Offshore Energy Stormpolder yard (Netherlands). The associated 72-metre jacket has left the Smulders yard in Vlissingen (Netherlands).
Both structures are now proceeding to the next phase of the Ostwind 3 project. In the coming weeks they will be transported to their site northeast of Rügen in the Baltic Sea, where Heerema Marine Contractors will carry out the offshore installation. The substation is planned to operate at 300 MW and will link the Windanker wind farm to the onshore grid.
The Jasmund substation is being delivered for 50Hertz, with the HSI consortium responsible for the full engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning scope. It is the first of three substations the consortium is developing for 50Hertz, with Zingst and Darß to follow. These three platforms form part of the Ostwind 3 and OST-6-1 projects.
