BNZ has signed bilateral agreements to supply a total of 1,600 GWh of renewable energy to steel and iron companies in Italy. The contracts are part of the Energy Release 2.0 mechanism, managed by Gestore dei Servizi Energetici, which links industrial electricity demand to the development of new renewable capacity.
Under the scheme, energy-intensive industries can purchase renewable electricity for three years at a fixed price of €65 per MWh via the state-managed system. The framework is intended to support the build-out of new generation assets while providing price stability to industrial consumers.
As part of the agreements, BNZ will develop new renewable energy projects in Italy. These projects will benefit from a fixed tariff structure, connecting the supply arrangements to long-term capacity development over a 20-year period.
The company is expanding its activities to include a broader operational role, combining renewable generation with energy management and hybrid systems. Its development pipeline includes solar and wind projects alongside a battery energy storage portfolio of 850 MW.
