Flender has introduced REVO, a new drive concept under its Winergy brand, designed to improve efficiency and reduce costs in wind turbine development. REVO achieves a torque density of 300 Nm/kg. The high torque density allows turbine drives to be up to 25 percent smaller in diameter for the same power output.
This reduces transportation and installation challenges, supports road transportability for turbines exceeding 8 MW, and lowers mass at the top of the tower. The design also uses low-noise journal bearings to meet European noise regulations and improve reliability. The REVO prototype is currently on display at Winergy’s facility in Voerde, Germany.
