Bernhard Schulte Offshore has taken delivery of its latest Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) from Ulstein Verft in Norway. The vessel, named Windea Curie, was christened on 26 June and will be deployed under charter to TenneT, the offshore transmission system operator, to support grid connection infrastructure in the North Sea.
Windea Curie is based on Ulstein’s Twin X-Stern design, featuring two sterns and azimuth thrusters at both the fore and aft for enhanced manoeuvrability. It is equipped with a centrally located, height-adjustable walk-to-work gangway and elevator tower for personnel and cargo transfers. A 3D motion-compensated crane with a 5-tonne lifting capacity is also installed. The vessel's logistics layout includes large storage capacity and stepless access to offshore installations.
The vessel measures 89.6 metres in length and 19.2 metres in beam. It offers 90 cabins with windows for charterers’ offshore personnel and a total of 111 cabins accommodating up to 132 people. Propulsion is hybrid, with battery systems installed, and the vessel is methanol-ready for future low-emission operations.
