The Danish Minister for Development Cooperation, Ulla Tørnæs, and the Ethiopian Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy, Dr. Seleshi Bekele Awulachew, have signed an agreement expanding the Danish-Ethiopian strategic sector cooperation and partnership on energy to the end of 2020.

He announced 1.) much-anticipated wind auction in federal waters off the coast of Massachusetts; 2.) the environmental review of a proposed wind project offshore Rhode Island; and 3.) the next steps to a first-ever wind auction in federal waters off of California.

Challenges in the permitting procedure mean the latest German onshore wind auction has come in under-subscribed. The prices – average €62.6/MWh - were also up on the €57/MWh in the last auction in May. Only 363 MW of capacity won a contract, compared to the 670 MW that was on offer.

The Carbon Trust’s Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) today published an update of the Floating LiDAR (light detection and ranging) Roadmap, accepted as the international industry framework for technology maturity. The Roadmap, originally published in 2013, has been revised to include updates, extensions and new performance indicators based on industry engagement to ensure the Roadmap continues to be fit for purpose for several user groups in to the future.
