The government of Albania has announced the results of the country’s first utility-scale bidder-selected site auction for onshore wind. Three bidders have been awarded capacity, totalling 222.48 MW, under the country’s third renewable energy auction and the first for onshore wind.

The trade associations of the German offshore wind industry and the German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation have presented the expansion figures for the first half of 2023. According to the figures prepared by the consulting firm Deutsche WindGuard, 24 offshore wind turbines with a capacity of 229MW were newly connected to the grid in Germany in the first six months of the year.

The Council of Members of MEASNET, the International Network for Harmonised and Recognised Measurements in Wind Energy, has elected a new Executive Board. The new board consists of Monika Kraemer as Chairwoman, Alejandro Martinez as Vice Chairman, and Iñigo Lopez as Treasurer. They will serve for a two-year period, from June 2023 to June 2025.

Germany has announced the winners of its 7GW offshore wind auction for sites that were not pre-developed by the State.The auction consisted of three sites of 2 GW located in the North Sea (N-11.1, N-12.1, N-12.2) and one site of 1 GW located in the Baltic Sea (O-2.2). The winners were bp for two sites in the North Sea and Total Energies for one site in the North Sea and the site in the Baltic Sea.
