The Willow project (Wholistic and integrated digital tools for extended lifetime and profitability of offshore wind farms) aimed at enhancing the monitoring and management of offshore wind turbines, has shown promising initial results. On 20th and 21st November 2024, the 12 project partners met at Sirris in Ghent, Belgium, to discuss progress. The project, which began in October 2023, is funded by a €5.8 million budget under the Horizon Europe programme.

Iberdrola has brought the Japanese electric company Kansai into its Windanker offshore wind project, which is already under construction. Kansai will co-invest in the project, acquiring a 49% stake, while Iberdrola will retain the remaining 51% and maintain control.
The Windanker offshore wind farm, located in the German Baltic Sea, will have an installed capacity of 315 MW and will be operational in the last quarter of 2026. The operation values the entire wind farm at €1.28 billion, equating to €4.1 million per MW. Iberdrola will control and manage the assets, providing construction, operation, maintenance, and other corporate services.
The Windanker wind farm will feature 21 wind turbines, each with a unit power of 15 MW, and has already sold 100% of its production through long-term contracts.

Vestas has received a firm and unconditional order for the 1.1 GW Inch Cape Offshore Wind project in Scotland from Inch Cape Offshore Limited, a joint venture between ESB and Red Rock Renewables.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) has approved multiple permit applications and authorisation requests from wind energy developer US Wind. This approval allows the Delaware components of its proposed Maryland offshore wind project to move forward. The project includes approximately 15 miles of export cables under Delaware's subaqueous jurisdiction.
