OnPath Energy is preparing to expand its investment and operational activities across Great Britain after reporting an operating profit of £69.4 million in its latest annual accounts.
The Sunderland-based company recorded a turnover of £95.7 million for the 15-month period to the end of 2024, compared with £50.2 million turnover and £20.8 million operating profit for the 12 months to September 2023.
The extended reporting period included the sale of its shares in the Kype Muir Extension Wind Farm in South Lanarkshire to funds managed by Schroders Greencoat. More than £2.1 million in grants were also awarded through the community funds linked to its onshore wind farms. It acquired the Pates Hill Wind Farm in West Lothian and the Milton Keynes Wind Farm in Buckinghamshire at the start of this year to take its portfolio of operational onshore wind farms across England and Scotland up to 12.
At the beginning of 2025, OnPath Energy outlined plans to invest around £1 billion in clean energy projects across the UK over the next five years. Following the removal of restrictions on new onshore wind farms in England, the company is assessing potential new projects across the country, while also identifying opportunities in Scotland and exploring development prospects in Wales for the first time.
OnPath Energy currently operates with 252 MW of generation capacity, alongside 550 MW of consented wind, solar, and battery storage projects, and an overall development pipeline of 3 GW. OnPath Energy was acquired by Brookfield Asset Management in December 2023.
