(from left) OnPath Energy’s partnership and community manager Will Smeeton, development land manager Michael Phillips and senior development land manager Ed King OnPath Energy has opened a new office in Cambridge as it looks to expand its onshore wind development activity across the south of England. The company, headquartered in Sunderland, has established a base at the St John’s Innovation Centre on the northern edge of Cambridge. The move is part of a wider effort to increase its development footprint in England alongside existing operations in the north of England and Scotland.

OnPath Energy entered the south of England market earlier this year through the acquisition of the Milton Keynes Wind Farm in Buckinghamshire. It is now identifying additional potential sites for onshore wind projects across England, Scotland and Wales.

The company has developed 14 onshore wind farms across the United Kingdom and is currently constructing three renewable energy projects, including a wind farm in southern Scotland, a solar farm near Leeds and a combined solar and battery project near Rotherham. Several further projects are also in earlier stages of development.

OnPath Energy is targeting investment of around £1 billion in clean energy projects by the end of the decade and has set a local supply chain spending approach linked to its projects, including a target of significant lifetime local procurement within 65 km of new wind farm sites.

The company also reports ongoing engagement with landowners and land agents across the south of England as it explores new development opportunities and expands its project pipeline.

OnPath Energy is owned by Brookfield Asset Management, a global infrastructure investor with a portfolio of operating renewable capacity worldwide.
