North Star has opened a new operational base at the OrbisEnergy Centre in Lowestoft, relocating its local team to the new facility. The move follows the establishment of the company's new headquarters at Prime Four Business Park in Aberdeen last year.
Since entering the offshore wind market in 2021, North Star has invested more than £750 million in its service operation vessel (SOV) fleet.
In April 2026, the company expanded its SOV fleet to 14 vessels, including two under construction, following the acquisition of four SOVs, all chartered to offshore wind developers in Europe. It also secured contracts with a combined duration of around 50 years across its fleet of 37 emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRVs) operating in the UK North Sea.
The OrbisEnergy Centre is located at Ness Point in Lowestoft, close to the Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF), which opened last year to support offshore wind operations, maintenance and construction in the North Sea.
The new office provides North Star's 18-person onshore team in Lowestoft with a larger, open-plan workspace designed to support day-to-day operations and collaboration.
North Star employs more than 1,700 seafarers and onshore staff across its business.
