Worley has been awarded the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the onshore substation of the Green Volt floating wind project, a joint venture between Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn. The contract covers all aspects of the substation’s design, including electrical systems, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance, and eventual decommissioning.
The FEED will be led by Worley’s team in Aberdeen and is expected to take around 12 months, preparing the project for the next stage of development. The substation will be located north of Peterhead and will connect to the 560 MW Green Volt floating wind farm, situated approximately 80 kilometres off the east coast of Scotland. The project has secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) and received full onshore and offshore planning consent.
