Ocean Winds (OW) has reached full power at its 30 MW Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL) floating offshore wind farm in France. The project has entered full commercial operation and is supported by more than 20 local workers based at the dedicated operations and maintenance facility established by Ocean Winds. The wind farm is expected to generate around 110,000 MWh of electricity annually.
The pilot project comprises three 10 MW wind turbines installed on semi-submersible floating foundations, located 16 kilometres off the Occitanie coast. It was developed in partnership with Banque des Territoires. The project also supported the European supply chain, with 99% of direct suppliers based in Europe. Of these, 85% are French or France-based companies and 60% are small and medium-sized enterprises.
Ocean Winds is a 50:50 joint venture between EDP Renewables and Engie.
