Two consortia have submitted applications for offshore wind sites in Norway’s Utsira Nord area, which is designated for floating wind projects. The applicants are Harald Hårfagre, a joint venture between Deep Wind Offshore and EDF Renewables, and a consortium formed by Equinor and Vårgrønn.
The Ministry of Energy will assess the bids based on cost, technological maturity, sustainability and innovation. Three sites of 500 MW each are available, with allocation expected in the first half of 2026. A competitive tender for state aid is planned for 2028/2029.
