Ocean Winds has announced the first power generation from the Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier (EMYN) offshore wind farm. Following initial testing that began on 23 May, the first wind turbines are now connected to the national grid in France.
The 496 MW offshore wind farm is expected to reach full operational capacity by the end of 2025. Grid connection infrastructure, including both offshore and onshore elements, has been developed and is operated by France’s transmission system operator, RTE (Réseau de Transport d'Électricité). EMYN is a subsidiary of Ocean Winds. Sumitomo Corporation, Banque des Territoires, and Vendée Energie also hold equity stakes in the project.
