Elwind has contracted Haskoning Nederland to carry out a grid study for the planned Estonian-Latvian offshore wind project. The study will assess possible grid connection points in both countries, identify potential cable routes and lengths, and examine network configurations.
It will include a high-level technical and legal review of grid connection capacity, as well as the suitability of onshore areas for substations. The study will also consider environmental, regulatory and security constraints such as maritime spatial planning, existing cable corridors, Natura 2000 areas and military zones.
