Situated over 27 km from Scotland's Angus coastline at its closest point, Seagreen will comprise 114 MHI Vestas V164-10 MW wind turbines. For equipment handling on the wind platforms, Palfinger was selected. A total of 114 Palfinger PF20000-7 LDB fixed boom cranes will be supplied, one for each wind platform.
The cranes have a lifting capacity of 990 kilograms and a minimum hoisting height of 35 meters. Their lay down boom design enables easy lowering of the boom from the operational position into the maintenance position. The 1075MW Seagreen offshore wind farm is being developed by joint venture partners SSE Renewables and Total. SSE Renewables is leading on the development and construction of the project, supported by Total, and will operate the asset on completion, which is expected in 2022/23.
