Siemens Gamesa, C1 Connections, Euskal Forging and Sif have started a joint assessment of the manufacturability of the C1 Wedge connection for wind turbine towers. A test ring has already been forged at Euskal Forging's new facility in Sestao and will be machined after the summer.
Sif will then weld the connection to a tubular section to evaluate the welding process and the behaviour of the flange. The testing programme is expected to provide further insight into the manufacturability and welding performance of the C1 Wedge connection by the end of the year.
