Graham Construction installs Renewablade concrete barriers using recycled wind turbine blade materialGraham Construction has secured its worksite at Mercy College of Health Sciences in downtown Des Moines with Renewablade commercial concrete barriers manufactured using recycled composite material from retired wind turbine blades.

A total of 28 barriers were installed for the project. Across these units, Renewablade incorporated recycled composite material equivalent to one wind turbine blade into the precast barrier systems.

The Mercy College installation marks the second Renewablade project in the downtown Des Moines area. Earlier this year, Premier Credit Union completed a retaining wall using Renewablade hybrid concrete retaining-wall blocks, incorporating recycled composite material equivalent to three retired wind turbine blades.

Renewablade’s commercial barriers and retaining-wall blocks are designed for construction site use while supporting waste diversion by repurposing end-of-life wind turbine blade material that might otherwise be sent to landfill.
