Enercon has signed a memorandum of understanding with Canadian company Biome Renewables to explore the integration of Biome’s FeatherEdge serration technology on Enercon wind turbines.
Initial joint tests with Enercon’s customer Schierloh Engineering in Germany suggest that the technology could deliver further acoustic benefits for noise-sensitive sites.
The next phase of testing will focus on Enercon’s E-160 EP5 turbines in Germany, following positive independent results earlier in 2025.
The programme will include detailed noise measurements in line with IEC standards across several operating modes. Both companies will concentrate on engineering validation to ensure effective integration of the FeatherEdge design with Enercon turbines.
