The French government has selected five ports to receive France 2030 funding for infrastructure supporting the development of floating offshore wind. The selected ports are Cherbourg, Brest, Nantes-Saint-Nazaire, Port-la-Nouvelle and Marseille-Fos. The projects were selected under a France 2030 call launched in 2024 to adapt French ports for floating wind manufacturing, assembly and turbine integration.

The programme will provide nearly €260 million in funding, with the selected ports expected to invest around €1 billion in infrastructure. The investments will mainly cover the construction or modification of quays, storage areas and access routes to accommodate the large components required for floating wind projects. The infrastructure is intended to support projects in both France and international markets across the Atlantic–Channel and Mediterranean regions.

France aims to have nearly 6 GW of floating offshore wind capacity in operation by 2040. The government said the port investments are intended to support the development of a coordinated industrial supply chain for the sector.

The announcement was published by the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME) on 31 July 2026.
