The first of a possible fleet of up to ten purpose designed support vessels to transport personnel involved in the planning, development and construction of offshore wind farms in the Greater Wash and southern North Sea arrived in Harwich from its Spanish boat builder.

The vessel’s MCA Cat 1 coding and 10,000 litre fuel tanks give it a range of up to 150 miles offshore, well within the range of the UK’s forthcoming Round 3 wind farms.  She provides four crew members and twelve passengers with comfortable beds, kitchen, bathroom, internet and entertainment facilities, enabling wind farm engineers to live and work on-site for up several days at a time. The vessel boasts rugged GRP construction that allows her to operate in rough seas. She is also fitted with twin V12 MAN engines that allows her to achieve 27 knots when carrying twelve passengers plus crew, and up to 6 tonnes of on-board cargo. The cargo decks fore and aft can accommodate up to 10,000kg of tools, equipment and spares, and the Guerra crane on the aft deck with a lifting capacity of 1,025kg at 6.9m caters for long reach loading and unloading.  The crane can also be deployed for camera surveys and grab sampling.
