Nexans has marked a key stage in the build of its new cable laying vessel Nexans Electra with the launch of the vessel from the dock hall at Ulstein Verft in Norway. The shipyard phase has seen the structure progress from an empty steel hull to a vessel with all internal systems installed.
The design includes a cable capacity of 13,500 tonnes across three turntables and equipment to install up to four cables at the same time.
The vessel, intended for offshore wind and interconnector cable installation, is scheduled for delivery in 2026.
