The European Renewable Energy & Wildlife Consortium (ERWC), an international group of ecological consultancies, has changed its name to EcoSymbia to reflect the broader range of environmental and biodiversity services offered by its partner companies.
EcoSymbia brings together Waardenburg Ecology (Netherlands), Écosphère (France), Nature Conservation Consultants (Greece), Oikon (Croatia) and Bioinsight (Portugal). Including subsidiaries and partner companies, the group comprises 15 companies with offices in nine countries across Europe, Asia and South America. It employs more than 550 ecologists, biologists and environmental specialists.
Established in 2024, ERWC initially focused on helping wind and solar projects assess and manage their impacts on birds, bats and other wildlife. This remains part of the group’s work, alongside services covering infrastructure, land use, marine surveys, habitat restoration, permitting support and biodiversity enhancement and net gain.
Under the EcoSymbia name, the group brings together expertise in areas including bird radar monitoring, bat acoustics, environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling and offshore surveys.
