Klüber Lubrication has opened a new testing facility covering approximately 1,000 square metres at its Munich site. The facility expands the company’s capacity to test lubricant performance under conditions that simulate industrial applications and develop solutions for specific customer requirements.
Tribology is the study of friction, wear and lubrication between surfaces in relative motion. It forms the basis for developing and optimising specialty lubricants. Tribometers reproduce loads found in real-world applications under controlled conditions, allowing the interaction between lubricants, surfaces and components to be measured.
Tests are designed around specific customer applications. Loads, temperatures, speeds and environmental factors are translated into controlled and reproducible test conditions. As standard methods do not cover every application-specific requirement, Klüber Lubrication also develops its own test rigs and testing methods.
The new facility has space for more than 50 test rigs. It is also included in customer tours at the Munich site.
