As part of long-term energy transformation EnBW has announced it will increase its investment in wind, solar and hydrogen from 2024 to 2030.
The company plans to invest over €40 billion in the transformation of the energy system by 2030, with the total potentially reaching €50 billion. The focus remains on expanding renewable energy capacity—particularly wind and solar power—alongside transmission and distribution networks, and establishing a hydrogen core network. Around 1.7 GW of renewable energy capacity is currently under construction.
In 2024, the company invested €6.2 billion—30% more than the previous year—with 85% directed at growth projects. By 2030, renewable energy is expected to account for 75–80% of EnBW's total installed capacity, up from around 60% today.
EnBW also highlights the growing importance of hydrogen-ready gas-fired power plants to ensure a stable electricity supply when wind or solar output is low. The company is exploring financing options, including a capital increase, to support the scale of required investment.
