Sany Renewable Energy has broken ground on the 168 MW Alibunar wind farm in Serbia, marking its first international independent power producer (IPP) project. It will be developed as a build-own-operate asset, with SANY responsible for construction, operations and maintenance.
The project involves the construction of 40 wind turbines and represents an investment of around 240 million euros. The project was awarded through Serbia’s second renewable energy auction, securing a 15-year contract for difference for 70% of its output. Sany is providing upfront equity capital for construction, with long-term project financing expected to be arranged after completion.
