The second phase of the Carbon Trust-led Floating Wind Joint Industry Partnership has launched a series of projects to address common technical challenges relevant to commercial-scale floating wind farms up to 1 GW capacity. The studies are part of the collaborative partnership between the Scottish Government and twelve industry partners, including EnBW, ENGIE, Eolfi, E.ON, Iberdrola, innogy, Kyuden Mirai, Ørsted, Shell, Statoil, Vattenfall, and Wpd Offshore.

Peikko Norge has received an order to deliver rock foundation technology to Hitra 2 Wind Park in the Trøndelag area, Central Norway. Peikko will deliver all steel components for the 26 foundations of the wind park. The deliveries comprise FATBAR Rock Anchors, tower adapter plates, drilling templates and foundation reinforcement.

Pacific Power has selected four new wind projects to fulfill plans to expand the amount of wind energy. The four projects will expand the company’s owned and contracted wind power by more than 60 per cent. The bids were selected following a request for proposal (RFP) issued in September 2017.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has signed an agreement securing the right to implement up to 1GW in Turkey. The company is part of the consortium, which also includes the local infrastructure company Kalyon Enerji and the Turkish investor Turkerler Holding, which was awarded capacity in the country's first wind auction, held in August.

Wood has led a joint industry project (JIP) to improve knowledge and understanding of submarine cables behaviour on the marine environment and rocky seabed. The CABILITY: Cable On-bottom Stability JIP, which gathered key industry players including EDF Energies Nouvelles, RTE, Naval Energies, VBMS, LDTravocean, Bardot Group, Silec Cable (General Cable) and DNV GL, has spent the last year developing a new set of industry guidelines.
