Nova Scotia premier Tim Houston and Massachusetts governor Maura Healey have signed an agreement to work towards supplying Massachusetts with offshore wind energy from projects off Nova Scotia. The memorandum of understanding sets out cooperation on offshore wind development, regional infrastructure and supply chain activity.
The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator began the process for the first offshore wind licensing round in October 2025, with a call for bids expected in the coming months. The province and the Government of Canada jointly designated four offshore wind energy areas in July 2025, while a call for information and prequalification process concluded on 13 January to support future regulatory recommendations.
