Fugro has been awarded a major geotechnical survey contract by SSE for the Berwick Bank B offshore wind development in the North Sea. Berwick Bank B forms the second phase of the wider Berwick Bank offshore wind project, which is targeting a total offshore wind capacity of 4.1 GW across three phases. The Berwick Bank B phase represents 1.4 GW of the planned capacity.
Fugro will carry out a full geotechnical investigation programme to support the design of fixed-bottom turbine foundations at the site. The scope includes drilling boreholes to depths of up to 50 metres below the seabed to obtain soil and rock samples for foundation design and engineering analysis. The survey campaign is being performed using Fugro’s geotechnical vessels Fugro Quest and Fugro Zenith.
Located off Scotland’s east coast, Berwick Bank B secured a long-term Contract for Difference in January through the United Kingdom’s Allocation Round 7.
