Hexicon has agreed to acquire the remaining 50% stake in Mareld Green Energy from joint venture partner Mainstream Renewable Power, gaining full ownership of the offshore wind development.
Under the agreement, Hexicon will pay an upfront consideration of SEK 1, with an additional milestone-based payment of EUR 4.5 million contingent on the project securing an offtake contract in a future auction.
Mareld Green Energy is currently at a key development stage, awaiting a final decision from the Swedish Government under the Swedish Economic Zone Act. The project application was previously recommended for approval by the County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland in June 2024. With full control of the project, Hexicon will oversee the next phase of development. When fully realised, Mareld is expected to generate up to 12 terawatt-hours of electricity annually.
