Ecowende has started generating electricity from its Hollandse Kust West offshore wind farm as turbine installation continues off the coast of the Netherlands. Once completed, the wind farm will comprise 52 V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbines supplied by Vestas.
Three of the seven turbines fitted with a single red-painted blade have also been installed. The coloured blades will be used to assess whether increased colour contrast can help reduce the risk of bird collisions. Ecowende is a joint venture between Shell, Chubu and Eneco.
