Baltic Power completes installation of 78 monopiles at Poland s first offshore wind farmThe installation of all 78 monopile foundations has been completed at Poland’s first offshore wind farm. More than 20 vessels and around 500 crew members and contractor representatives took part in the offshore construction campaign. Baltic Power, a joint venture between Orlen Group and Northland Power, is now moving into the next phase of works. Electricity generated in the Baltic Sea is expected to be supplied to the grid by the end of this year.

Installation teams carried out precise pile-driving operations, placing foundations weighing between 1,300 and 1,700 tonnes and measuring up to 100 metres in length. At present, all 78 monopiles have been installed. Sixty out of 78 transition pieces are in place, while 30 of the planned 76 wind turbines have been installed. Both offshore substations are complete. The onshore substation and onshore cable works are each more than 90% complete. Installation of the offshore export cables is ongoing, and work on the offshore inter-array cables will start shortly. The service base has been completed and is operational.

Once the approximately 1.2 GW offshore wind farm is fully commissioned, it is expected to generate up to 4 TWh of electricity annually, equivalent to around 3% of Poland’s current national demand. The project is located about 23 km offshore near Choczewo and Łeba, covering an area of around 130 square kilometres. Baltic Power is scheduled to become operational in late 2026.
