Van Oord’s offshore installation vessel Aeolus has completed the installation of 31 MHI Vestas V164-8.4 MW turbines at the 269MW Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm. The 31 turbines were installed on monopile foundations at a water depth of approximately 40 metres. The final two turbines will be installed on Mono Bucket foundations.
Van Oord was responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the foundations, inter array cables and offshore substation. The Aeolus was deployed for the transport and installation of the wind turbines. In January, Van Oord installed the last of 31 monopiles. Cable installation vessel Nexus and trencher Dig-It completed the installation and burial of more than 40 kilometres of inter array cables in July. Installation and cabling of the two Mono Bucket foundations and their turbines are planned for the fourth quarter this year.
