Acciona Energía is set to begin construction of two onshore wind projects in South Africa with a combined capacity of 194 MW. The projects, Zen (100 MW) and Bergriver (94 MW), are located between Gouda and Saron in the Western Cape.
All electricity generated by the two wind farms will be sold to Etana Energy under a 20-year power purchase agreement. Together, Zen and Bergriver are expected to produce around 580 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity per year.
The wind farms will be owned by Acciona Energía with a 51 per cent stake, alongside a joint venture between H1 Capital and Chariot, which will hold the remaining 49 per cent. Following financial close, construction is expected to start in the coming weeks, with commissioning planned for mid-2027.
Acciona Energía will be responsible for construction, while Nordex will supply the wind turbines and provide operation and maintenance services once the projects are completed.
