MacGregor's Horizon gangway has received DNV certification for floating-to-floating (F2F) personnel transfers between two independently moving vessels. The certification, under DNV-ST-0358 and following a sea acceptance test, extends the Horizon gangway's use beyond fixed landing points.
The system is intended for applications including floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels, floating rigs, floating wind projects and offshore service vessels. The F2F configuration uses a flap at the gangway tip instead of the conventional docking head used for fixed structures. LiDAR-based tracking measures the relative movement of the two vessels and feeds this information to the gangway's motion compensation system. F2F is offered as an extension of the existing Horizon gangway range and can also be retrofitted to units already in operation.
