NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, announced that on Dec. 16, 2011, its subsidiary Golden Winds, LLC, issued Class B membership interests to JPMorgan Capital Corporation in exchange for approximately US$ 131 million at closing, and an expected additional US$ 78 million capital contribution in early 2012. Golden Winds consists of three California wind farms with an aggregate capacity of 205.9MW.

Gamesa has signed a contract with NREA (New & Renewable Energy Authority) to deliver 200MW of turbines to wind energy projects in the Gulf of El-Zayt, on Egypt’s Red Sea coast.

Gamesa and Iberdrola have signed a new framework agreement calling for the power company to purchase from Gamesa a minimum of 50% of the total turbine fleet it buys for its renewable energy business on Spanish and international markets between 2013 and 2022, or until the number of MW purchased totals 3,800MW, whichever comes first.

The system operator for the New England area of the USA, ISO New England Inc., has awarded GL Garrad Hassan a two-year contract to provide wind power forecasting services to all wind in the ISO’s footprint, including generation within the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. GL Garrad Hassan is in the beginning stages of this project for the ISO, with plans to begin first forecast delivery in 2012.
