MAKE expects 255GW of wind power to be installed, and 263GW to be commissioned in China from 2016 to 2025. The China wind power industry adjusts following an installation rush over the last two years ahead of implementation of lower FITs in January 2016. An 8% and 23% of YoY reduction in new installed and grid-connected capacity in 2016, respectively, is expected after a record year of growth in 2015.

The average costs for electricity generated by solar and wind technologies could decrease by between 26 and 59 per cent by 2025, according to a report released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The report, The Power to Change: Solar and Wind Cost Reduction Potential to 2025, finds that with the right regulatory and policy frameworks in place, solar and wind technologies can continue to realise cost reductions to 2025 and beyond.

16 Dutch companies and research institutes have launched the program for offshore wind: GROW, Growth through Research, development & demonstration in Offshore Wind. The consortium's mission is to bring the cost of offshore wind further down to seven eurocents per kWh by 2030. Over the next five years, GROW will help introduce innovations to the market. GROW will spend at least € 100 million on research, development and demonstration projects over the next five years.
