The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has released three revised dynamic positioning (DP) guidance documents. The first, Recommended Practice for the Operation of Class 1 DP Vessels (IMCA M268), is the industry’s first comprehensive guideline for the safe and efficient operation of DP1 vessels. These vessels are increasingly used in the offshore wind sector.
The second, Recommended Practice for Specification and Use of DP Capability Plots (IMCA M140), has been rewritten to reflect current operational practices. It supports project planners in selecting suitable DP vessels for specific tasks.
The third document is an updated version of Recommended Practice on Operational Activity Planning (IMCA M220).
The three documents were developed by IMCA’s DP Committee, which includes vessel owners and operators, equipment suppliers, and regulatory representatives. They are available for download to IMCA members via the organisation’s website.
