The European Commission has announced the results of its latest Innovation Fund call. Sixty‑one net‑zero technology projects will receive funding — among them four wind‑manufacturing projects located across Europe. One is in France, one in Denmark, one in Sweden and one in Spain.
BW Ideol will produce concrete floating foundations in Fos‑sur‑Mer, France. Two start‑ups – Modvion in Sweden and Voodin Blade Technology in Spain – will manufacture wind turbine towers and rotor blades more sustainably using wood. The fourth project, MEADOW in Denmark, will support production of components for offshore wind turbines.
The EU Innovation Fund aims to back innovative low‑carbon technologies to help Europe reach climate neutrality by 2050. Its budget for 2020–2030 amounts to €40 billion, financed by revenues from the EU Emission Trading System. Since 2020, at least 14 wind‑energy projects have received a total of at least €475 million from the fund.
