Vestas plans to establish a nacelle and hub factory in Scotland, United Kingdom, to meet growing demand for offshore wind in the UK and Europe. The project could create up to 500 skilled direct jobs and support additional roles in the wider economy. Strategic discussions have taken place with the UK and Scottish governments regarding development and potential co-investment in the facility.
The proposed capital investment exceeds €250 million and would produce nacelles and hubs for Vestas’s V236-15.0 MW offshore turbine. The final investment decision depends on securing sufficient UK-based orders under AR7 and AR8. Subject to planning approvals and order timing, production could begin by 2029/2030. The plan also considers opportunities to co-locate suppliers of other major components.
