Renewable Parts works with SSE Renewables to create refurbishment and remanufacture programme courtesy Chris Watt PhotographyOver the last 19 months, Renewables Parts has worked with SSE Renewables to create a bespoke refurbishment and remanufacture programme to enable the company to reduce the amount of waste it sends to landfill and cut down the carbon footprint of operating and maintaining its wind turbines renewable energy assets.

Hoping to break the traditional “buy new” mindset of the renewable energy industry, Renewable Parts is creating a circular economy methodology from its Innovation Centre in Lochgilphead and is helping customers think more sustainably about operations and maintenance of turbines by including refurbished options alongside its new parts and consumables. Over a 19-month period, Renewable Parts supplied SSE Renewables with a total of 46 yaw gears which were sent to its UK and Irish wind farms and helped the company cut their CO2 emissions by 23 tonnes and reduced the amount of scrap and waste sent to landfill by 11 tonnes.
