Skyborn Renewables and 50Hertz Transmission have signed an agreement covering the legally secure construction and operation of the offshore platforms OSS Zingst and OSS Darß. The agreement supports the development of up to 927 MW of offshore wind capacity in the German Baltic Sea.
The project represents a first in Germany, as the Gennaker offshore wind farm will be connected to the transmission network under the coastal waters regulatory framework. The agreement addresses key legal and regulatory issues and establishes a framework for offshore wind projects in coastal waters.
The Gennaker wind farm is planned to be built from late summer 2027 within the 12-nautical-mile zone off the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. The project will comprise 63 wind turbines and two offshore platforms, which will be jointly used by Skyborn Renewables and 50Hertz Transmission for the wind farm and grid connection.
The grid connection system OST-6-1 is scheduled to be commissioned in July 2028. Cable installation works have already started based on an approved planning decision for coastal waters, with additional permits expected in the near term.
