PPM Energy, ScottishPower's competitive U.S. energy business, will begin construction this fall on the 75MW Twin Buttes Wind Power Project in southeastern Colorado.
And in Oregon, PPM just announced construction of the 100MW Leaning Juniper Wind Project near Arlington, which is expected to be commercially operational later this year. Twin Buttes will use 50 GE 1.5MW turbines. Power generated by the Twin Buttes project will be delivered under a long-term contract to Colorado customers of Xcel Energy. Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2007. In Oregon, the Leaning Juniper Wind Project will use 67 1.5MW GE turbines and PPM Energy is in advanced discussions with a customer for its entire output.
