Floating offshore wind turbine begins generating power in Japan

A consortium led by Toda Corp has announced a 2MW floating offshore wind turbine in south western Japan near Nagasaki began generating power.

 

The turbine was set up near Nagasaki prefecture in a pilot project for the Ministry of the Environment. Hitachi Ltd., Fuyo Ocean Development & Engineering Co., Kyoto University and the National Maritime Research Institute also take part in the Nagasaki project.
