AMSC has announced two new D-VAR STATCOM contracts in the UK and the USA.
In the UK, Senvion will use AMSC's D-VAR system to connect the Strathy North Wind Farm to the grid. The wind farm, which is owned by SSE, is currently under construction and will feature 33 Senvion MM82 wind turbines. The plant is expected to become fully operational towards the end of calendar year 2015. In the USA AMSC's D-VAR system will connect the Route 66 Wind Farm to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) power market. The Route 66 Wind Farm (150MW) in Amarillo, Texas, which is currently under construction, will be owned and operated by First Wind. All systems are expected to be delivered in fiscal year 2014.
